MEND 7-13

MEND 7-13 is a comprehensive, family-based educational program that has been specifically designed to help children and their families improve their health, fitness and self-esteem.

  • FREE, ten-week healthy lifestyle program for children and their parents or caregivers. It’s proven to help empower the whole family to be fitter, healthier and happier.
  • This program is fun and interactive and supports 7 to 13 year old children who are above a healthy weight and their families to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
  • Twice-weekly, parents/caregivers join their children in each session to learn about how to choose healthier foods and spend more time being physically active.
  • Sessions are a mix of family activities where we show you how small changes can make a big difference.
  • Developed by leading experts in the fields of pediatric nutrition, psychology, physical activity, and health.


  • Improve self-esteem and promote behaviour change using effective tools and strategies to help children and families make positive lifestyle changes.


  • Fun activities and group play are designed to improve strength and fitness and bring joy back into moving!
  • Activities are fun, non-competitive and involve a progression in skill level so that all children can benefit and participate.
  • Helps develop physical literacy skills.
  • Helps work with the children in replacing sedentary activities (i.e. TV watching and playing video games) with active time.


  • Group-based lessons for families to learn about nutrition and healthier food choices.
  • Children and families learn how to read food labels to make a healthier choices.
  • Practical demonstration and tips about healthy foods, label reading and portion sizes.

  • Learning to implement change. “Do it!” stands for empowering families to take action to live their own fitter, healthier happier lives.
